Spilman
Short was with CB Richard Ellis since 1997 as Senior
Vice President as the result of selling his regional
firm Property Resources, to the company. He was the
Richmond office supervising broker of record and responsible
for new business development, and was the top producer
in 1999, participating in the sale and leasing of over
1,000,000 square feet of real estate. Spilman left CBRE
in 2000 to form Dominion Diversified Real Estate Group.
Spilman
began his career in 1981 in commercial leasing and management
with Elam & Funsten, Richmond's oldest Real Estate
Firm. While there, he was responsible for servicing
the company's entire office and retail portfolio. To
date ,the principals of DRV have acquired real estate
valued in excess of $90,000,000.
In 1985
Spilman was hired to establish an autonomous Richmond
office for Paragon Group, one of the nation's larger
development firms. At Paragon, he directed the leasing
of Paragon Place, a $100,000,000 planned mix-use office
park at I-64, West Broad Street and Glenside Drive.
He successfully pre-leased the first $24,000,000 phase
of this project, which set a new standard of quality
for suburban office development in Richmond.
During
1988, Spilman co-founded, and was President of, Short
& Mattox, Inc. where he concentrated on tenant representation
and personally produced over $20,000,000 in sales and
leasing volume in one year.
In joining
Property Resources in 1994 as a founding Principal for
their Virginia operations, Spilman was responsible for
enlarging the sales, leasing and consulting department,
and continuing the company's philosophy of superior
service in Virginia. During 1995 and 1996, Spilman and
his Richmond partner produced over $98,000,000 and $58,000,000
in gross sales and leasing volume.

ACHIEVEMENTS
As a commercial developer and broker, Spilman has facilitated
more than 3,500,000 square feet of improved property
transactions. Additionally, he has been involved in
selling over 500 acres of land to and for companies
such as Coca-Cola Company and the Principal Financial
Group. Recently Spilman participated in the disposition
of a portfolio for J.P. Morgan consisting of 1,000,000
square feet, having a value in excess of $90,000,000.
EDUCATION
Spilman is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University,
where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in
Business Administration and Management, with a concentration
in Real Estate and Urban Land Development. While at
VCU, he was Vice President of Rho Epsilon, Professional
Real Estate Fraternity and Captain of the Cross Country
Team.
